8 oz uncooked fusilli, or other spiral pasta
1 Tbsp balsamic vinegar, or more to taste
2 tsp olive oil
1/2 tsp dried oregano

My Hero, My Inspiration ... My Daddy

The depth of a father's love shows in his daughter's eyes.
What's known is what's shown from sunset to sunrise.
A foundation built on more than just what is spoken.
It's commitments kept and promised that go unbroken.
An emotion so immense that nothing in this world can erase.
The permanent impression of love is tattooed upon her face.
A relation so peculiar that only the two can understand,
Yet so immaculate it's obvious that, by God, it was planned.

I believe it all began when she would sleep upon your chest.
Now you're her number one, her favorite, you're the best!
You move and she watches so closely it's as if she's in a trance.
The fact that she can repeat you, exactly, isn't just by chance.
From wrestling, racing, jump roping to being made up like a doll.
Both playmate and best friend, you've done some of it all.
A secret place, a look, special time just for her and you.
When a choice is to be made, it's all about what Daddy wants to do.
And you're there to cater to her every need and every wish.
There's an invisible pedestal for Daddy's little princess.
She's content just to be. She's filled with absolute bliss
Just to sit up under you, giving an occasional hug and kiss.
Sweet dreams are non-existent without Daddy's goodnight kiss.
Your gentle stroke, words just for her, your check on hers is what she'd miss.
It's simply because of how you love her, I surmise.
The depth of your love always shows in her eyes.

With you her laughter is harder and her smile is even brighter.
You have a friendship, a bond, a soul tie that couldn't be any tighter.
It's more than a special bond; it's an exclusive connection.
No room for a third party or attempted interjection.
This love is reserved just for Dad and no other.
It's not the same for siblings, not even for Mother.
It's the kind of love that I could never despise.
For the depth of your love always shows in her eyes.

To her, you'd give anything, but it's not about the gift.
It's that marvelous smile brought on by the spirit you lift.
It's not about what you can give her or about what you can do.
It's about the unconditional love reciprocated between you two.
It's the tears in her eyes when you two disagree.
Nothing's quite right until 'I love you and I'm sorry.'
It's that spunk in her step, the rainbow in her eye-
You'll know she's a Daddy's girl when she passes by.
She's got the kind of love that never fades or dies.
The depth of your love always shows in her eyes.

Upon angel wings you soar; your sparkling golden halo glows
Whenever she's with you, it's Heaven in her eyes that shows.
Her eyes hold a song so beautiful you'd think it was Heaven's melody.
It's the music of love's symphony composed by each precious memory.
The love known is the love you've shown from sunset to sunrise.
The depth of your love will forever show in your daughter's eyes.

A lot O' Li'l Babies and Other Stuff!

Good Morning!

This past week was so busy for me... I think I broke a record in the Annie making biz. LOL

I had the idea to group them together and take a photo... I just LOVE the sweetness of these olde dolls.

Each with their own personality... Some, a bit "dirtier" than others.

There's something about a worn out, well loved doll that just tugs at my heartstrings...

And some other news:

I've recently been commissioned to create a set of 3 vintage looking bears...

I'll be creating these bears from 1920's mohair. From an olde sofa yet!

The material is fabulous and I can't wait to get started on this project!

I'll also be finishing up some swaps I have going... I just love this idea.

Having others' creations in my home brings me such happiness.

Afterall, the only primitives I've been looking at are my own that are on auction or waiting to be shipped.

I get a bit bored looking at what I've created. I love others' touches in my home. Each person who creates has their own style and it's wonderful. It lights up my heart!

For today, I'll be doin' a bit of swimming. It's supposed to be hot here in Philadelphia....
Summers in Philly are like swimming in hot pea soup!

Tomorrow, the day will be spent with Dad of course. I bought him that pair of moccasin slippers he's been wanting.. but even before that, I am getting a long-awaited, long-overdue, much enjoyed pedicure with my cousin. Is there anything like being pampered with a foot massage? I think not. :-)

So.......my best wishes for an enjoyable weekend on your end! I'm glad you've stopped by my little prim world to see what's up.

Take care my friends... Blessings to all of you!

Olde Black and Whites and Other Precious Photos

Good Morning friends! I was looking through some old photos and thought I'd share some of my favorite ones. Time goes so fast. I look at myself in these photos and can't believe where the time went. This one here is me on my first birthday. :-) I was a little fat, no a lot fat and probably very mischievous! LOL It was almost 43 years ago.

This one above is me and Dad, Christmas of 1967. You can tell it's the sixties with the dolls that are there. LOL ... We had an olde fashioned Christmas tree with tinsel that sat on a platform.. around the platform was the faux brick paper covering. Remember that? Oh, don't forget the cardboard fireplace that you'd place an orange bulb into. LOL

Ah, yes, this is me in my crib... probably 6 months old.
<-----My cheeks look like they could burst! :)

And then, in 1970, my brother Billy came along.
He was my "real life" baby doll.
I would pull him around in a little red wagon.
A "real life" baby doll when you are 3 yrs. old is
awesome! This "doll" would cry, eat, need to be changed!
You don't get better than that! :-)

Here I am, pulling him around! My mom would say, "Be careful, he's heavy!" and I'd say to mom, "He ain't heavy, he's my brother!" :-)
To this day, that is my song to him! He STILL ain't heavy! Cause he's my brother. Nothing I wouldn't do for that guy..

And here were are with Granny... boy did I love my Gran. She was the BEST! Everything a Granny should be!

I think this is Christmas 1971. Granny used to live right down the street from us so she'd spend a lot of time at our house... trying to babysit whenever she could!

I could go on and on... I have so many beautiful photos I treasure. It's wonderful to look back on them and remember things from the past that still stick in your mind and soul today.

Hope you enjoyed looking at them as much as I enjoyed sharing them.

Have a wonderful day! ~Blessings, W

Tattoos...One of My Guilty Pleasures!

Good Monday Morning!

A little update before I get to work...

I spent the day yesterday doing one of the things I really enjoy... getting a new tattoo. :-)

Everyone used to say "you can't get just one" and they were so right. I have 5 now and am already thinking of getting my next one.

This tattoo is special to me. I've been wanting one to represent my favorite artist, "Neil Diamond".

So......I went ahead and had it done on the back of my neck! :)

Most of my tattoos are hidden with clothing so this one will be in a spot that everyone can see.

My next, and probably the last (although not certain about that yet!) will be for my son... I can't leave him out. I'd like one with his name, some kind of heart and scrollwork and birthdate.

I may be satisfied at that point although thoughts of a "Daddy's little girl" tattoo do come to mind now and then. :)

Well, off to work. I have lots of ideas and so little time to create.

Blessings friends, have a happy, simple day!

Just Lovin' "Swapping!"

Just did a swap w/ Brandi Hall and received these WONDERFUL prim goodies!

I've gotta tell ya, opening a box of prim goodies feels like being a kid on Christmas morning all over again!

Are these creations gorgeous or what?

The reason I love swapping is to decorate my home w/ primitives that others create. I have to admit, I am sometimes bored to death of looking at my own creations scattered all over the house, waiting for their new homes. I love others' styles of prims in my home... Each person creates in their own way and it really gives my home a wonderful feel.

Thanks Brandi, for doing this swap w/ me! I hope you enjoy your primitives I've made for you as much as I do these!

Love and hugs from your prim sis,
~W

And Now.... On To The Real World!

Hi friends,

As you may know by now, my son had his high school graduation yesterday. I never thought we'd get there on certain occasions!

He wasn't one to like schoolwork. Nor getting up in the morning or really, anything about school... it was a tough 12 yrs. for both of us! Me fighting with him to do the right things, him getting annoyed with me for trying all of the time.

But yesterday, something changed in my son. He told me he'd actually miss his school. I was surprised to hear that! He said to me, "not the schoolwork mom, but the people in it." He had formed a bond and memories that would last a lifetime. I was proud that I could give that to him. A sense of "belonging."

You see, he is the last graduating class that will ever walk through the halls of his school. They are closing at the end of June. The Archdiocese decided that enrollment was too low and they can't keep the school open any longer. Our Catholic schools are dwindling fast.

On the other hand.. who can afford them? The monthly payments were more than my mortgage! At times, I didn't know HOW we'd make it financially. But it was so important to me that he finish his 4 yrs. at North Catholic for Boys. And we BOTH made it. :-)

Seeing him walk down the aisle to receive that cherished diploma was one of the best moments of my life. I cried tears of joy, tears of fear of what lie ahead for him in life, tears, tears, tears altogether. My little boy has become a man and the pride I hold in my heart for him is unrivaled.

They grow so fast. He is my little boy in my heart and will be forever. Being a mom is the best gift I've ever received.

~Blessings my friends..... cherish the simple things. They are all around us!

It's on eBay 'til Mon. June 14th...

The BIG day is almost here.......

Hi friends! :-) Hope all is well with you in your world.

I've been a bit crazy lately... with my son's school finishing up and all of the graduation practices and rituals..

Where does the time go? He'll be graduating from Catholic High School tomorrow and I KNOW that this will be another one of those "benchmarks" that will hit me hard.

He once needed me... now he needs to spread his wings. A lot will be changing now and truthfully, I don't know if I'll EVER be ready to let him go. But it's necessary, for both of us. :-)

I know that I've raised a wonderful, caring, loving person.... a sensitive human being that is in tune w/ everything and everyone around him. That makes me so proud.

But deep inside, he'll always be my little baby. My little boy that would call me "mommy". That will never change, no matter what he accomplishes, where he goes, who he becomes...... We will always have that special mother/son bond that nothing can change.

I'll use up a lot of tissues tomorrow... that's for sure. And I'll be the proudest mommy in the entire auditorium. I just hope he knows that and always carries my love with him, no matter where he is. I know I will.

Good morning!

I've finished up an Americana Flag and Crow door hanger that I'd like to share with all of you!

This is a great piece of Red White and Blue... Perfect for these patriotic summer months!

It's on eBay now and will end on Sunday June13th. :=)

CLICK HERE to go to the auction and a big thanks for stoppin' in!

Blessings,
~W

StraWBeRRY SHoRTCaKe!~GReaT SuMMeR DESSeRT!

OMG, yet ANOTHER Weight Watcher's dessert that looks yummmmmmy!

Only 3 points per serving, how can you go wrong? Seems very simple to make.. I'm gonna try this one this weekend.

Thought I'd share! It looks light for summer!

Enjoy!

POINTS® Value: 3
Servings: 12
Preparation Time: 15 min
Cooking Time: 0 min
Level of Difficulty: Easy

Beat the heat with this sure-fire summer pleaser. We used vanilla yogurt but chocolate or strawberry would be tasty, too.

Ingredients
1 1/2 pound(s) strawberries, hulled and sliced (about 6 cups)
1/2 cup(s) sugar
2 Tbsp fresh lemon juice
1/2 tsp table salt
12 oz store bought angel food cake, cut into 1/4-inch slices
4 cup(s) fat-free vanilla frozen yogurt
Instructions

* To make strawberry sauce, combine strawberries, sugar, lemon juice and salt in a saucepan, stirring over medium heat until the sugar melts and the liquid comes to a simmer. Simmer 15 minutes. Use the back of a wooden spoon to mash about half the berries against the side of the pan. Cool to room temperature and use immediately or refrigerate, covered, up to 2 days.

* Spoon the frozen yogurt into a large bowl and mash it with the back of a wooden spoon until soft and spreadable.

* Line the bottom of a 9-inch round springform pan with one third of the cake slices, cutting any slices to fit the shape of the pan. Top with half the frozen yogurt, spreading it to the sides. Spread 2/3 cup strawberry sauce over the frozen yogurt, then top with half the remaining cake slices, again cutting any to fit. Spread the remainder of the frozen yogurt over the cake, top with 2/3 cup strawberry sauce, and finally seal the top with the remaining cake slices. Cover with plastic wrap and freeze at least 6 hours or up to 3 days. Let the cake stand at room temperature 10 minutes before unmolding. Slice into 12 pieces and serve. Yields 1 piece per serving.
